Resource Center

As many SWARM readers know, our long term goal is to become a non-profit and open a resource center,  but until then, we are a grassroots organization helping single moms improve their quality of life.

If you are the child of a single mom, then you understand the sacrifices she made. You watched her leave for jobs on days when she would have rather stayed with you. You might have seen her stretch her pay to cover the rent, the food and some random bill that was hanging over her head.

You watched her forgo something you later learned she wanted/needed in order to make sure you or your sibling(s) had what you needed.

She saved all year for the holidays, for birthdays and for camping gear for the weekend family vacation.  She made dental and medical appointments for you and made sure you went and sometimes missed her own.  She is your biggest fan. She cheered you on from the stands or in her heart from work.

A single mom is many people:  Mom. Sometimes Dad. Coach. Teacher. Cook. Laundress. Personal shopper... Chauffeur. . . Last minute supply picker-upper for that project, due tomorrow that you forgot about until 10 at night.

(She probably drove you to practice and taught you to drive...or knew better, not to!)

Was she stressed? Did you know it?  Did she ever snap at you, or wearily give in to your request because she felt guilty?  Did she get to fulfill her potential?  If she did so as a single mom, that is quite an accomplishment.  I bet she did not do it alone.  If she still hasn't reached her peak, there is still time.

SWARM wants to be the single mom's helper. The one that promotes a better quality of life so she can be the mom she wants to be...while there is still time!
