"If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it"

Hello Swarm Readers
Today we post the reasons why SWARM is working on becoming a non-profit.
SWARM feels the need to become a non-profit because we want to open a resource center for single moms; a bricks and mortar site where we can house our donations, have a place to meet (with enough parking for all), hold our lectures and demonstrations (home and auto repair as well as classes on healthy cooking and nutritious meal planning). The resource center will be a place for single moms to congregate and share and gather information.
Apparently not everyone understands the need for a non-profit that focuses on single moms living in the United States. After all, the U.S. is a superpower; a nation with enough resources to sustain millions of people with a quality of life that is enviable to most of the rest of the world. We have it pretty good. Our quality of life is well above many, many other nations! But, what if it could be better? What if single moms had a way to make their lives better and, at the same time, improve their children's lives?

According to the most recent census, there are over 7 million single moms in America. That's alot of single moms! This means that there are at least 7 million children being raised in single mom households. What is their quality of life like? How does that quality of life affect their day to day existence and their future?
For each single mom family, there is a unique answer to those questions. But...we do know that a higher quality of life is associated with an environment that has some stress and positive ways to deal with stress. After all, life has stress. No matter your age, stress happens and it is in the dealing of stress that we either are energized or deflated. SWARM knows that by teaching stress busters to moms, their children will most likely be the front line beneficiaries. Learning healthy coping strategies such as stress busters will help the whole family handle the ups and downs of everyday life. If you have been reading this blog you know that this aspect for an improved quality of life for single moms is truly just the tip of the iceberg. We have so many plans for the future of our moms and their families.
With our established core group of moms, as well as those who love us, we are on our way to non-profit status and more importantly, to opening a resource center. We will have a paypal account in the near future for those who want to contribute a dollar to help us reach our goal. We plan on transparency in this endeavor, with the public having access to how the money is spent, just like any non-profit. And for now, we grow regionally with dreams of being accessible, nationally!
Did you know??? Children growing up in homes with mothers who have resources available to them that help meet their needs can become healthier and more productive adults. Isn't that what we all want for our families and our communities? SWARM thinks so! And we feel the best way to help these families is by helping them grow with knowledge and support. A resource center will provide that!
All it takes is a community of single moms who are interested in and then dedicated to, helping each other out. We are SWARM! So readers, please share this blog with the single moms in your life.
